More than just daycare, New Beginnings offers a comprehensive approach to early care and education. Each staff member has had courses and ongoing professional development in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education. At the minimum, our staff have a Commonwealth Child Care Credential, with most having earned a Child Development Associate certificate, and some lead teachers and program directors having earned a bachelors or masters level degree in education.
Infant and Toddler Care
Learning begins at birth, not when a child turns 5. We provide a safe and nurturing environment in which your child can grow and learn with experienced, credentialed staff you can trust.
We prepare children for kindergarten and beyond using developmentally appropriate practice, screening and assessment tools, and adherence to Kentucky's early childhood standards. We offer a full day, year round setting in which children can learn.
21st Century Community Learning Center
We operate an after school and full day program targeted to students K-3. Partnering with Hazard Independent Schools, our program provides academic and non-cognitive enrichment aligned to what students are learning throughout the day.
New Beginnings is located conveniently below ARH Hospital, between Roy Campbell Drive and the Hal Rogers Parkway, next to the new Hospice inpatient facility.
Both Starland and New Beginnings have earned 3 STAR ratings in Kentucky’s Quality Rating and Improvement System, STARS for KIDS NOW, which evaluates centers using environment rating scales and classroom interactions between staff and children.
21st Century Community Learning Centers are funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education and the Kentucky Department of Education.
Starland Academy is a 21st Century Community Learning Center program in partnership with Hazard Independent Schools. We work with students who want or need some assistance in a nontraditional educational setting.
We operate an after school and full day program targeted to students in grades 4-8. Partnering with Hazard Independent Schools, our program provides academic and non-cognitive enrichment aligned to what students are learning throughout the day.
