For many, the cornerstone of Community Ministries is Corner Haven Crisis Center. At Corner Haven, we provide emergency and transitional shelter for adult men and women. Once in our services, a person works to develop an Individual Development Plan, forming goals around housing, education, employment, and income. We also help prevent homelessness from occurring by assisting with rental issues and shutoffs, as well as work to re-house people as quickly as possible. Many come into Corner Haven to get a to-go meal or a food box. We also distribute household items and furniture to families in need.
We do more than just provide shelter, though – we help families and individuals obtain stable housing to lead self-sustaining lives. We operate both transitional and permanent supportive housing, as well as rental assistance to help people live on the private market.
These programs are funded in part by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Kentucky Housing Corporation, and private donations.
